breaking tennis strings near top of the frame?
iv done this fair few times recently, breaking strings up the top of the racket. what am i doing wrong? shanking of course:P
You have answered your own question. Shanking it is - if the ball is hit near the frame, then the pressure on the strings is higher, because the impact is distributed differently due to the proximity to the frame. Instant overload, and - voila. On an off-chance that your stringer is sloppy and nicks the strings (it could be particularly problematic for natural gut), try another place to have your rackets strung.
